19 June 2024 at 6:10:00 am

W06 Workshop

30 min

Abstract

This workshop will demonstrate how innovative research in marine turtle conservation has been translated into education resources for school-aged students. Participants will do the interactive activity in groups, and then brainstorm how they could apply a similar activity structure to communicate their organisations' research to school-aged audiences.

Developed by the Science Communication and Education officer for the North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program (Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions) who has eight years of science teaching experience, the resources presented align with curriculum outcomes, engage students in complex research and will be of interest to science communicators looking to enter the education space.
