Abstract
Public engagement is an opportunity to have a critical dialogue with the public about your research. It can inspire, motivate action, construct new knowledge and facilitate their ability to participate in solutions. What is the process of developing effective public engagement and crucially, how do we measure its impact? In this workshop, we will explore the qualities of effective public engagement with a focus on purpose and evaluation? We will explore some of the theory and practice of public engagement and I will use examples from our own outreach and public engagement into quantum physics and development of technologies to increase the energy efficiency of digital technologies. We will build in participants’ own experiences for an interactive exploration of what makes effective engagement and evaluation.
