Miss Rachel Thomson

(she/her)

The University of Melbourne

Currently studying a Master of Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne, Rachel is a budding young academic with a particular passion for health communication. After completing her Bachelor of Science (Physiology) at the University of Melbourne with a Concurrent Diploma in Languages (French), Rachel began tutoring French at Melbourne’s Wesley College. Here, she uncovered a love for communications, education, and mentoring that drove her to pursue an unconventional approach to the university’s Master of Biomedical Science programme.

Working with a new multi-disciplinary team, her Master’s project aims to make it easier for biomedical researchers to share their work with public audiences; making health research easier for everyone to access and understand.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys crocheting, reading, gardening (even if her plants are sometimes less enthusiastic about it), and of course, she loves engaging with French culture and language whenever she can!
