Mrs Leah Kalimeris

(she/her)

International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research

Leah has a background in astronomy and science communication. She completed her Masters in Physics (Astronomy and Astrophysics) in 2018 at UWA, where she studied the outer edges of star forming galaxies. Prior to her studies in astronomy, she also completed a Bachelor of Forensic Investigation in 2010 at ECU.

Along with astronomy her other big passion is science communication. Before joining ICRAR in a professional capacity, she spent over nine years working at Scitech designing, developing, and delivering programs, to inspire and engage the WA community. Her time there saw her communicate STEM to a wide range of diverse audiences, in a multitude of situations, from educating school classes, performing puppet shows to early childhood audiences, to showcasing the wonders of the Universe in the Scitech Planetarium.

She rejoins ICRAR as the Outreach and Education Coordinator, inspiring anyone and everyone about the wonders of space and WA’s amazing role in space research.
