Ms Olivia Henry

Olivia is a Media Officer and science communicator at the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC) with a diverse background in biomedical science, journalism, and media. In her current role, she works to improve the reporting of research for the benefit of all Australians by providing media training for scientists, resources for journalists, and content for stories.

Before joining the AusSMC in 2018, Olivia spent eight years with Fairfax Media and worked in a range of other areas, including television (Channel 44 Adelaide), online content (Australia’s Science Channel), kids’ entertainment (Sciworld), radio, independent film, freelance writing and photography.

Olivia is an award-winning short filmmaker, a contributor to COSMOS Magazine, and appears regularly on radio stations around Australia for fun, casual science chats. Olivia has also studied in Japan and Spain, with scholarships for diplomatic relations and video journalism, respectively.
